As one of the two foreign companies were awarded the national telecommunications license by the government of Myanmar , a Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor announced its cooperation with Wikipedia to launch a campaign called " Wikipedia Zero " in this country . It will allow potential customers to access Wikipedia Telenor for free ( no data charges ) when Telenor started its services in Myanmar later .sepatu kantor ukuran besar buat cewekLinking the country through mobile
According to Telenor , the movement is derived from the company's desire to help Myanmar's 60 million people are connected to each other . In Myanmar , despite the increasing use of smartphones , most people can only afford the most basic devices and services . But over time , these conditions will be more advanced . Telenor representatives revealed :
Wikipedia has big potential in Myanmar because we predicted the country will adopt smartphones and feature phones can access Wikipedia very quickly . Amount will access it of course depends on how many number of customers who signed up when we started operations . It is important to remember that Wikipedia is not known in Myanmar . So we must do our best to help people understand the value provided by Wikipedia as an information tool and motivate people to use them . We hope that by providing Wikipedia for free , we can stimulate their interest .
Simple as social welfare
Cooperation between Telenor and Wikimedia Foundation was first established in February 2012 . After the agreement, the special version of Wikipedia for mobile phones launched in Thailand , Malaysia , and Montenegro . Because of his success in the three regions , in addition to Myanmar , Telenor also hoping to launch a Wikipedia Zero in Pakistan , Bangladesh , India and Serbia next year .
Previously , Ooredoo , other telecommunications companies that are licensed to operate in Burma also announced it would provide jobs and training to 30,000 women telecommunications in this country . Social welfare support efforts undertaken two telecom companies is not a surprise . In order to obtain permission from the Myanmar government , first they have to prove what they can give to the people in this country . We can not predict whether it could help each company to get customers .
